Stripe or Paypal?

Hey. So due to ideological reasons, we’ve decided to go with Stripe as the payment gateway for subscriptions1.

While it is technically possible to have both Paypal and Stripe as payment gateways, it is a little beyond the current webmaster’s skills to make this happen (but she’s willing to learn!). In the meantime, would people find it more convenient for us to use Paypal?

Paypal is owned by a very right-wing conservatives who regularly and arbitrarily freeze the funds of marginalized people. biyuti publishing’s account has already been frozen once, for no apparent reason. While we were lucky to be able to resolve the issue, there are many who were not as lucky. They lack the regulation of a bank and are able to do this sort of thing with little ability for their users to challenge any decisions they make regarding your account.

    However, we also recognize that there aren’t really ethical choices in a capitalist system. So would be willing to switch to paypal, if our (potential) users would find this easier/preferrable/more convenient. Esp. since we know that not everyone has a credit card or access to one. ↩
