Okay. So I still read the fanfic.
Can I say that
1. Can people stop having Kurt use the word ‘boo’? Admittedly I don’t know a lot of slang or AAVE but I’m 99% sure that having a white boy say this is appropriative^[1]. Willing to be corrected if I’m wrong. But even if it isn’t appropriative, I’ve never, ever heard a white gay man say this word. Ever. For real. And when people use it… I can tell that they have (very likely) never ever even heard a gay white man say this word.
2. Kurt and/or Blaine do not, under any circumstances, get to use the word tr***y. Seriously. I understand that 90% of this is being written by clueless teenaged girls, but get a fucking clue. While most cis gays probably would use this, you as a (probably) hetero cis girl putting into the mouth of cis gays makes me furious. I would kick you if I had the chance. Especially after reading 8 chapters of something just to stop reading because of shit like this.
(If you are wondering why… People don’t get to use slurs that aren’t used against them. Just a general rule. Y’all probably shouldn’t be writing the word f***t either, but for most plot lines I can forgive it. But there isn’t any excuse for tr***y unless Kurt/Blaine are doing drag or actually women)
ETA: I’ve been corrected in the comments regarding Kurt’s use of the word ‘boo.’ Apparently it is a thing he occasionally does. Okay. But my comments about tr***y still apply. Transmisogynist as fuck.
